Training Youth and women Enterprises on Business Communication & Digital Markets 2022

GYCC-ROOTS project concluded the first pilot pilot Training on Business Communication and Digital markets for 30 business enterprises in Agricultural Value Chain 2–23 March, 2022 in provincial Gambia of Jarra Soma, LRR

GYCC with support from the he Resilience of Organizations for Transformative Smallholder Agriculture Project (ROOTS) intend to organise a three (3) days training on Business Communication and Digital Marketing for 30 youth and women entrepreneurs from the ROOTS project intervention regions. The training brought together five (5) selected enterprises from each of these regions (WCR, LRR, NBR, CRRN, CRRS, and URR) who are focused on the agricultural value chain in The Gambia. The training enabled beneficiaries to market their products and services both physical and online but will also enable them to protect themselves and their business for Cyber Crimes while  doing business online. The objective of the training was to;

  • To enable youth and women entrepreneur to safely and successfully run their businesses online
  • Manage their sales and Inventory online
  • Establish official online engagement platforms with customers
  • Increase sales and revenue for businesses using digitalisation
  • Help prepare enterprises in digitalising the economy as envisage by Government blueprint

The Participants were taken through presentations to understand the following topics

  1. Introduction to ICT user skills- Participants will be introduce to some basic ICT computer skills
  2. Business Communication: learning how to effectively communicate their customers and various mediums of communication.
  3. Digital Marketing:
  • Email Marketing (online invoicing and inventory management)
  • Social Media Marketing (facebook, whatsapp Business, LinkIn and Telegram)
  • Content Creation (posting, eye catching contents, quality photo and profiling)
  1. Cyber Security
  • Staying Safe online
  • Data safety
  • Identifying Scam and Scammers
  1. Mobile Money usage and procedures in the Gambia

In addition, the project is also supporting these participants with COVID19 recovery funds of about D60,000 to mitigate the impact of COVID19 on their enterprises.
